This is a lot more watch than you should expect for $53.95. The description has a few mistakes. It IS water resistant to 20 atm/600 feet, not 50 meters (150 feet), and it CAN be hand wound, and it does hack (you can stop the second hand for precise setting.)It's a large, handsome watch that gets a lot of positive reactions, but most importantly, it is a good, solid dependable watch at a shamefully low price. There's nothing to think about...just order one (or two), you will want to keep the first one, and the second will make a great gift.

I have been a fan of Croton watches since the 60's. The family owned company has been making watches since 1878 and their watches have been of high quality with reasonable prices and this watch carries on with their fine tradition. The automatic movement is a Japanese Miyoto 21 jewel movement that has a "Hack" feature, allowing you to set the second hand. The crystal is a hardened mineral with a sapphire overcoating making it highly resistant to scratches and breakage. Everything about the watch speaks quality and the stainless steel construction and band are of top quality. The company has a lifetime warranty on all their watches and if you ever need to have the watch serviced there is only a $15 dollar service charge. I have had this watch for some time now and I am extremely happy with it.

Great croton watches if you are looking for a durable, casual timepiece which would survive everday use and be water resistant--without diamonds. Seems that most watches for women now have some sort of diamonds, or crystals--even dive watches. Because I have have a very small wrist, a lot of men's watches are much too big, but at 34mm, this is a great size for most women and the dial is exremely easy to read. This is a hefty watch, solid and chunky, but really very comfortable to wear and again, that is due to the scale of the case. Since this has an automatic (Miyota) movement, you will save on batteries, but unless it is worn everyday, you will either have to re-set the watch or use a watch winder. There is a date window, but it is not very easy to read. But still, this is a great watch.

Just got mine today (a bit over $90 delivered from Amazon) and am very pleased with it so far! Like the previous review says it is very attractive, solid, and thick! I was looking for a durable, inexpensive watch for daily wear which would be easy for me to read while counting time taking pulses and such (I'm a new nurse) and this appears to fit the bill. The center face on mine is textured in a herring-bone basket-weave pattern which looks very nice, and the only non-stainless or metallic surface finish is the white angular ring with the 24-hour (13 to 24) markers (another plus feature for a nurse). The included instructions are of little help though and this is my 1st unit with a screw-down crown. Took a while to figure it out! Still unsure about winding it but while the second hand is currently just a bit twitchy mostly between about 12 and 4, it is consistent the rest of the way. Tried all manner of movement to wind it up but can't say what's most effective. I can hear both spinning and ratcheting sounds so something's going on! Should probably be able to wind it with the crown but have yet to manage it as far as I can see. Time will tell for sure but at this point I'd say this watch is a keeper!

Just purchased the kit, the watch link remover tool has a cheap feel but does the job, the link remover pin was bent, but the plier they included did well to straighten the link remover pin. The Link remover did work well, but lacked the fine adjustments. The box was cheap paper and they items are packed in foam with cutouts for each tool. The pliers has already chewed up the foam cutout meant for the plier. One thing missing is the watch cover opener, otherwise it is a decent set.

Croton Limited Lifetime Warranty
Your Croton timepiece is warranted for lifetime against failures due to defective materials or workmanship. Should such a defect occur, it will be repaired free of charge (except a $15 service fee for shipping, handling and insurance) within a reasonable period of time from the date of its receipt at our factory service center.

Do not attempt to open a watch yourself. Repairs should only be performed by our repair center to ensure dust free conditions and to maintain the water resistance and accuracy of your timepiece, as well as keep in effect full coverage of the Croton warranty.This warranty does not cover free repair or replacement of cases, batteries, watchbands, straps, dials, crowns, or crystals within the warranty period since such items are subject to "wear and tear" of daily use.

Maintaining Your Croton Watch

Handle your Croton watch with care by following these instructions for the proper care of your Croton timepiece.

Do not expose your watch to water unless it is marked "water resistant" on the back.

Always have crystal or crown replaced at once when damaged to prevent exposure to dust or humidity.

If watch is marked 17 jewel or incabloc, wind clockwise till it is fully wound. Do not over wind.

If your watch has Calendar or Day features, pull out stem half way and turn until the right day appears.

Battery Replacement: Be sure to have the battery replaced by a qualified jeweler or our factory service center.

Do not attempt to open watch to replace batteries yourself as this operation must be performed by a qualified jeweler under very controlled dust free conditions.
